Developers of the Water Street District in Downtown Naperville have unveiled plans for the Hotel Indigo Naperville on the Riverwalk, an upscale boutique hotel set to open in 2015, as the anchor for the mixed-use retail, restaurant and office development on the south end of Naperville’s central business district. Hotel Indigo Naperville will bring high-end amenities and national- brand caliber customer service for business and leisure travelers alike.
Every Hotel Indigo property is uniquely designed to reflect the culture, character and history of the surrounding neighborhood. Each hotel’s neighborhood story is woven throughout the guest experience, from the locally sourced food and drinks, to the art, photography and architecture incorporated into the hotel’s design. Oversized and interpretive photographic murals of local imagery are featured in public spaces and guest rooms, which feature plush bedding, hard-surface flooring with area rugs and spa-inspired bathrooms.
The Naperville hotel will consist of approximately 160 rooms, including Riverfront King Suites and Honey moon Suites. The second- floor lobby will feature a great room with fireplace, a bistro-style dining area and wine bar`, as well as a health facility. A pedestrian bridge will give hotel guests access to the Loggia Building with additional Riverfront rooms and suites as well as banquet accommodations, three intimate meeting rooms that can accommodate from 15 to 60 and a rooftop restaurant, overlooking the river and downtown Naperville. It will be a major attraction for guests and visitors who can experience Naperville’s extraordinary downtown panoramic views.
“By aligning with InterContinental Hotels Group, the world’s largest and most global hotel company with a robust frequent guest program and international reservation system, we can ensure that our hotel will be rate sensitive, delivering a more luxurious experience with an approachable price point, suitable to our Naperville market,” says Nick Ryan, Managing Director of The Marquette Companies. “By design, the brand is refreshingly local, reflecting the culture, people and personality of the community. When you walk into our lobby, you will get the Naperville vibe immediately. We’re proud of that.”
Marquette plans to involve the Naperville Heritage Society in bringing the area’s history and culture to life within the hotel space via unique interior designs and signature murals. The Hotel Indigo Naperville , owned by The Marquette Companies LLC and a group of local investors, will be managed by IHG.
“Our spacious and well-appointed rooms and suites will offer both comfort and style to business travelers, family groups and bridal parties,” Ryan says. “We look forward to providing accommodations for Downtown Naperville Girls Weekend events, the Naperville Marathon, the numerous guests, alum and families of North Central College, not to mention wedding parties at Naper Settlement and the many guests of Naperville companies and residents, who will love staying in walking distance of all the downtown attractions.”
“Because we plan to involve the Naperville Heritage Society, the history and culture of Naperville will be featured in the lobby, giving guests a glimpse into the life of Naperville,” says Jeff Prosapio, Project Manager for Marquette. “We understand how special and unique Naperville is, and we want to celebrate that.”
Surrounding the Hotel Indigo Naperville, the Water Street District will offer a variety of restaurants, retail shops and the signature Riverwalk. Downtown businesses north of the DuPage River can be accessed via Main Street and the covered bridge at Webster Street. Expansion of the Riverwalk on the south side of the river will feature brick pavers, an art wall and seating, and will be reached by a broad staircase, patterned after the Spanish steps, in Rome, leading from the Plaza and fountain area between the Loggia and Theatre buildings. A 500+-space public/private parking facility will be adjacent to the hotel, providing parking for the Water Street district and additional downtown visitor parking.
On learning of the plans for the Hotel Indigo Naperville on the Riverwalk, City Councilman Joe McElroy remarked “I think the Hotel Indigo Naperville will bring value to the community-it’s the missing piece of the puzzle for the downtown. The concern is whether this will have any adverse effect on our existing hotels. I think and hope that this hotel will compliment, not simply compete with what we already have. From the financial projections we’ve seen, it looks like this will be a big asset to the city.”
Councilman Steve Chirico concurs, ““I think this is great news for the City. I’m really excited to have such a high quality boutique hotel in our downtown. It will make a great anchor to the Water Street development.” He added “I’m just anxious to get everything started so we can all enjoy it!”
The Hotel Indigo Naperville on the Riverwalk will participate in IHG’s guest loyalty program, IHG® Rewards Club. The industry’s first, largest and fast-growing hotel rewards program with more than 74 million members is free to join. The scale and diversity of the IHG family of brands means that its hotels can meet guests’ needs whatever the occasion.
The Hotel Indigo brand, the world’s first global branded boutique hotel brand, has grown rapidly since its launch in 2004. It continues to be a strong growth vehicle for IHG with its strategy focused on growing in top-tier priority markets and gateway cities. With a quality global pipeline, the Hotel Indigo estate is expected to double in size to within the next three to five years. The brand has recently seen growth in top U.S. markets with openings including the Hotel Indigo Brooklyn, Hotel Indigo New Orleans Garden District and Hotel Indigo Anaheim Maingate hotels and strong international growth, with openings including of the Hotel Indigo Barcelona – Plaza Catalunya, Hotel Indigo Hong Kong Island, and Hotel Indigo – Tel Aviv – Diamond Districthotels.
